Humour has the unusual effect of stopping or slowing the narrative. Used in the right way it can also sweeten areas that are dark or political.

In this workshop, we will be looking at the ways humour can be used in literature, and methods you can use to incorporate it into narratives. We will look at the use of humour in writing, including its historical use, satire (Juvenalian vs Horatian), ethics, and discourse.

Limit of 12 participants. Please fill out this form to apply for a scholarship.

We're sorry, but all tickets sales have ended because the event is expired.

Online workshops are run through Zoom. You will be sent a link before the workshop. You do not need to have an account with Zoom to participate in the session but you do need to have a device (PC, laptop, tablet or phone) with a reasonable internet connection and a microphone and speakers (these could be in-built or plug in). If you are unsure if your device has audio and visual functionality, you can sign up to Zoom (it’s free) and do a test.

When we send you the link, we will provide you with guidelines to help use Zoom.
